Tancredo calls Hickenlooper out in controversial Facebook post

On Thursay, Congress voted to effectively halt a program that would allow Syrian refugees to resettle in the United States.

A former Colorado lawmaker is now publicly calling out Gov. John Hickenlooper.

In a controversial Facebook post Tom Tancredo denounced Hickenlooper’s support of President Obama’s plan to begin relocating refugees here next year.

“You have no way of knowing who these people were or are,” Tancredo told NewsChannel 13. “Even the Obama administration admits that and this governor wants to bring them to this state. Well, let him bring them and live in the Governor’s Mansion with him. That, I would agree with.”

“If someone is in this country legally, whether they are a refugee or a tourist, we cannot deny them entrance to our state,” Hickenlooper said. “That being said, our goal is to work with the White House and Congress to make sure those coming into our country are thoroughly vetted and they pose no risk to our citizens.”

Colorado Springs Rep. Doug Lamborn supported his GOP colleagues Thursday calling for an end to Syrian migration to America.

“As horrible and regrettable as the tragedy in Paris was, it does highlight we do live in a dangerous world,” Lamborn said. “We can’t give up the security aspect of making sure these people are not a threat to our national security.”

President Obama says he will veto any attempt by Congress to halt the migration of Syrian refugees.

Lamborn believes Congress will have the votes to override that veto.
