Salvation Army kicks off Colorado Springs Red Kettle campaign

It’s that time of year again… The Salvation Army is officially kicking off their Red Kettle Campaign for the 2015 holiday season.

The celebration began this afternoon at their annual luncheon, emceed by KRDO NewsChannel 13’s Jon Karroll.

Starting Friday, you’ll begin seeing the famous bell ringers at grocery and retail stores in the region, including King Soopers, Walmart, Safeway, the Chapel Hills Mall, and Hobby Lobby.

“When we raise money in the Salvation Army Red Kettle, that money stays right here in our community. It helps with our transition housing, with our 200 bed homeless shelter. We average about 100 to 150 people that we are feeding five days a week. Those are the things that this money does,” said Maj. Richard Larson, with the Salvation Army of El Paso County.

The Salvation Army is always looking for new volunteers to help ring bells and raise money. This year’s goal is $400,000.
