Anonymous vs. ISIS

fink, k-r-d-o newschannel 13. hackers are getting involved in the war on is. the group “anonymous” hacked 55- hundred twitter accounts connected to is. krdo newschannel 13’s greg miller is looking into the effects of the online attack. he joins us live in our newsroom. when we hear of wars, we usually think missile attacks, ground troops…. but now technology has become a big factor – as anonymous has declared it’s own war on isis. uccs juniors like michael beasley see a future in computer science. nats keyboard clicking though he’s hoping to use it for cyber safety – not cyberwarfa re. sot: i want to really be making a difference in the country and helping. the group anonymous using ip’s on twitter to shut down thousands of isis accounts… and in an online video in french, the group promised it’s own revenge. sot: if you know what you’re doing, you can really manipulate a lot of that world, that’s sort of not really there… but it is since we created it. greg standup: neither students here or experts who watch afar were surprised to see a the war go online. sot: do you root for the bad guy when they’re doing good? craig smith is a the lead investigator at bright star investigations in colorado springs. he specializes in technology and intelligence. sot: isis is fighting a propoganda war. i think the united states needs to fight a propoganda war back online. his view: it was inveitable… because because ‘anonymous’ plays by its own moral guidelines. sot: sometimes it targets based on what they feel is right and wrong. after paris they felt it was very wrong. and now they’re a key player in the response. to give you an idea of this group’s impact –
