Wind storm affects a west side business

Manitou Springs was hit hard by Wednesday’s wind storm.

Trees were down in a number of parts of the city and phone lines were knocked down in front of Adam’s Mountain Cafe.

Because of that, they didn’t have much of a breakfast or lunch crowd. And crews were still working on it during the evening.

Around 10 a.m., four poles and the lines that they carried fell, blocking much of Colorado Avenue.

Crews quickly took care of the poles but for safety reasons the lines couldn’t be removed right away.

The good news was that no one was hurt and there was no physical damage to the restaurant.

“Somebody told me that a phone line was down, and there were three poles down across Manitou Avenue and the traffic was backing up and it was crazy,” said Farley McDonough, the Owner of Adam’s Mountain Cafe.

McDonough is taking this wind storm in stride because she’s been through worse.

You may remember that this business used to be located along Fountain Creek in downtown Manitou Springs.

It flooded several times during the summer of 2013.
