Suspected DUI driver plows through herd of sheep, killing 38

The Colorado State Patrol says a woman who is suspected of driving under the influence drove into a head of sheep on a county road in south-central Colorado.

The collision happened at 6:42 p.m. on November 17, 2015.

Investigators say Lynn Ann Michel, 47, of Monte Vista was driving a 2005 Izuzu SUV westbound on Rio Grande County Road 8 South when she ran into the herd.

38 head of sheep were killed and 12 were injured.

It’s unknown how many head of sheep were on the roadway.

State Patrol says that after colliding with the sheep, Michel drove away. She was later tracked down by Troopers who found the front license plate from her vehicle at the scene of the crash.

Michel faces charges for DUI, not having insurance and failing to remain on the scene of a crash. She was released on a summons.
