Retired Army colonel accused of hitting, killing trooper on I-25 posts bond

A retired Army colonel who is accused of hitting and killing a Colorado State Trooper on I-25 north of Colorado Springs posted bond Wednesday night.

Eric Henderson, 52, faces charges in the death of Colorado State Trooper Jaimie Jursevics, 33.

The incident happened in Douglas County.

Henderson’s bond was originally set at $1 Million. A judge reduced that bond to $500,000 earlier in the day Wednesday.

Investigators say Henderson left the scene of the crash. He was later arrested by Palmer Lake Police.

Henderson faces charges for vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of an accident, driving under the influence and careless driving resulting in death.

Sunday night’s crash happened at around 8:50 p.m. at mile marker 175, which is just north of the Tomah Road exit.

Jursevics was investigating a minor accident when she was hit. She is survived by her husband and infant daughter. She joined state patrol in January 2011.
