Mystery noise causes problems for Fountain residents

People in Fountain say a loud humming noise is keeping them up at night.

People said the noise started Friday night around 11:30 p.m. and lasted to 4 a.m. Saturday. It started back up Saturday night and continued until around 4:30 a.m. Sunday morning.

Neighbors said the loud and consistent noise sounded like a generator or a jet engine. People complained that it kept them up for hours.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said it received calls and several of its dispatchers reported hearing it. A dispatcher said the noise was coming from a construction project on Mesa Ridge Parkway as workers cut concrete.

However, neighbors around the construction project said they have not heard the noise.

People said it sounded like a drone aircraft prompting some to wonder if the noise is coming from Fort Carson. KRDO NewsChannel 13 has called Fort Carson about the sound and is waiting for a response.
