Two southern Coloradans use the Incline to honor those affected by Paris terrorist attacks

A picture is worth a thousand words and two people in southern Colorado hope their picture can be worth more than that.

Photographer Dan O’Sullivan wanted to send a message to the people who were affected by the terrorist attacks in Paris. He wanted to do it by taking a picture.

“This is one of the few things I could do locally with my skill set and talents to try and express some of the condolences to victims in the terrorist attacks,” he said.

He asked for help through social media to help take the photograph and Pueblo resident Sam Chambers was the first one to respond.

Chambers helped O’Sullivan by carrying a light with red, white and blue color gels up the Manitou Springs Incline. Chambers illuminated the Incline in the French flag colors.

“There is not a lot I can do for the people of France living down in Pueblo, but I can do that,” Chambers said.

From almost two miles away, O’Sullivan snapped a picture of it.

“This is basically part of the global response to indicate thoughts and prayers and just the emotions with those around the world,” O’Sullivan said.

They said they hope it’s a project that will be seen around the world and show that southern Colorado will never forget Paris.
