Pueblo West gives out record number of weed violation letters

Pueblo West has broken a record because of the amount of weeds in the district.

The metro district said it had sent out 1,056 weed violation letters through October. Last year, it handed out 307 tickets total.

The district said the record rain this year played a big role in the amount of weeds.

Chris Cole said he’s having a hard time killing the pesky plants.

“Terrible, I sprayed a few times. I can’t keep up with the demand, they just keep coming,” he said.

Pueblo West has a three-strike policy when it comes to weed violations, but no one has faced fines or penalties so far.
