Family, friends remember Jennifer Vasquez

Family and friends gathered Saturday to remember one of the three victims killed in a shooting rampage in Colorado Springs.

Jennifer Vasquez was laid to rest Saturday at The Springs Church. Vasquez was killed early Halloween morning in a shooting rampage. She was one of three victims.

Friends and family remember Vasquez as a loving mother and friend.

“She was very outgoing she will always talk to you and say hi and have a good day,” family friend Erica Luckett said.

A large group was in attendance at the funeral service. The support followed to the home where Vasquez fell victim to the shooting rampage, candles and flowers covered the front porch.

At Superior Tattoo and Barber Shop where Jennifer’s daughter worked, the community was remembering her life through hair cuts and tattoos.

“They were like sisters almost you know, they were just super close her little sister both of them and to miss that one piece now is hard,” said George Nettle, another family friend.

For every service the shop did Saturday, the cost was donated to the Vasquez family.

“We’ve had donations from even Pueblo, just so many friends and family reached out. They helped a lot, it’s amazing how the Colorado Springs community came together during tragedy,” said family friend Joanna Sannicolas.

In one day, they raised over a thousand dollars.

“It was a tragedy and we just wanted to help out our family members and do what we can,” said Ian Vargas, family friend.

Vargas says Vasquez was family at the shop and wore shirts with her photo in honor of her memory.
