Teen who pleaded guilty in crash that killed her brother is sentenced

A teenager who was driving a car that crashed in Garden of the Gods Park, killing her younger brother, was sentenced Friday.

Erin Lanosga, 19, of Manitou Springs will serve five years on probation. She could have been sentenced to between two and six years in prison.

Lanosga pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide in August.

The rollover crash happened around 10 p.m. on May 20, 2015 on Ridge Road in Garden of the Gods.

Police say Lanosga lost control of her SUV, causing the vehicle to roll off the side of the pavement.

The passenger in the backseat, her 16-year-old brother Ryan, was thrown from the SUV. He died at the scene. Police say he wasn’t wearing a seat belt.

Lanosga and another passenger suffered only minor injuries.
