Man gets 48 years in prison for Pueblo teen’s death

A man who pleaded guilty to killing a Pueblo teenager who disappeared last year has been sentenced to 48 years in prison.

The Adams County District Attorney’s Office says 25-year-old Christopher Adam Waide was sentenced Friday for the death of 19-year-old Lea Chali Porter. Waide pleaded guilty in September to second-degree murder.

Prosecutors dropped a first-degree murder charge as part of a plea deal.

Porter was last seen in June 2014 while visiting Westminster, where Waide lived. Waide and Porter attended the same high school in Fremont County and had reconnected on Facebook before she went missing.

Prosecutors say Waide put her body in a trash bin. Investigators searched a landfill for more than 40 days and found some of Porter’s belongings but not her body.
