Woman accused of cutting fetus from womb seeks venue change
A woman accused of cutting another woman’s unborn baby from her womb has asked for her trial to be moved out of Boulder County.
The Daily Camera reports (http://bit.ly/1Qf8FcH ) lawyers for Dynel Lane filed a motion Monday for a change of venue in the February trial. At a hearing Tuesday, Lane’s lawyer, Kathryn Herold, said she wanted about 400 people in the jury pool, citing the amount of press coverage the case has received.
Boulder District Attorney Stan Garnett argued that only 200 people would be necessary.
Dynel Lane has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder, unlawful termination of a pregnancy and multiple counts of felony assault. Prosecutors say she attacked Michelle Wilkins and removed an unborn baby from her womb in March.
Wilkins survived, but her baby did not.
