Target decides to shutter Springs company
Target says that about 180 people in Colorado and California will lose their jobs after it decided to close down two companies it owns.
Those companies are Colorado Springs-based CHEFS Catalog and California based cooking.com.
Target says it purchased the two businesses in 2013 to help build new capabilities, like its online recipe portal, and to determine how its customers might respond to broadened access to different brands.
The company says that Target’s digital business has strengthened and grown but as the company’s priorities evolved, CHEFS Catalog and Cooking.com no longer aligned with the broader strategy. It also says the results of these businesses did not meet its expectations.
The affected employees were notified Friday.
