VA takes comments of proposed national cemetery in El Paso County

The Department of Veteran Affairs is taking public comment on a proposed national cemetery in El Paso County.

Dozens showed up to a meeting Thursday night in Colorado Springs.

The cemetery would be built on 374-acres of land, known as Rolling Hills Ranch located east of Marksheffel Road, between Bradley and Drennan Roads.

Veterans said the cemetery is needed.

“Some of the national cemeteries are getting filled up. It’s also hard for us to travel to Denver and Fort Logan for the funeral services,” veteran Feliciano Yapit said.

The VA Department will open up another 30-day public comment period before they reach a decision.
