New company could bring more jobs to Pueblo

It will be up to Pueblo City Council if it wants more jobs in Pueblo.

The Pueblo Economic Development Corporation said the hemp oil company CBD Biosciences will be moving into a building near the Pueblo Airport.

PEDCO said the company will bring in 163 jobs to the Steel City.

PEDCO emphasized that this is for hemp products only and not for medical or recreational marijuana.

If council approves, it would cost nearly $5 million in taxpayer money that would come from the city’s half-cent sales tax for jobs.

“I mean, we definitely need jobs in our community. I’m looking forward to Monday night for the resolution to be introduced,” Pueblo City Council President Steve Nawrocki said.

Council will vote on this Monday at 7 p.m. inside City Hall.
