Man accused of assaulting Aurora theater shooter in prison

The Department of Corrections said an inmate assaulted convicted Aurora theater shooter James Holmes.

A Department of Corrections spokeswoman confirmed with our partners at KMGH-TV in Denver that Mark “Slim” Daniels, 27, assaulted Holmes and a security guard at the Colorado State Penitentiary in Caon City.

Daniels will be charged with assault, the spokeswoman said.

The Department of Corrections told the Denver Post Daniels Lunged at Holmes and took a few swings at him while passing in a hallway.

Holmes is serving life sentences for killing 12 people and injuring 70 in an Aurora movie theater back in 2012.
