State Patrol: fall flurries create problems for drivers

The first fall flurry is causing quite a few accidents in southern Colorado.

This morning at 10:15 a.m. a muti-vehicle accident near southbound I-25 and Baptist Road temporarily caused lane reductions. Those lanes should re-open by noon.

Colorado State Patrol says it’s something they see on the first few days of bad weather during the fall and winter seasons.

State Patrol says that people tend to follow too closely and go too fast on the highway, and when that’s mixed with bad weather, crashes are bound to happen.

Officers want to remind everyone that the speed limit signs are designated for dry roads and clear conditions. When roads are wet, slick and slippery or when fog obstructs vision, State Patrol says it’s important to slow down and make sure there is enough distance between yourself and the car in front of you.
