Engine failure prompts emergency landing at Colorado Springs Airport

One engine failed to work this morning on an American Airlines flight that was leaving Colorado Springs and heading to Dallas.

The flight departed the airport just after 11 a.m. but was turning right back around at 11:30 because of the reported engine failure.

Isaac Tullis, a passenger on the airplane, took video of the turbulence that was experienced during the flight.

The airplane was carrying 122 people including its crew members.

An airport spokeswoman said everyone was okay and the plane was able to land smoothly.

American Airlines was able to send another aircraft to the airport in order to serve the passengers who experienced about a five hour delay.

The new airplane was able to successfully take off just after 4:00 p.m. this evening. All of the passengers were able to re-book a flight for free.
