Colorado Springs Company Recalling 12,566 pounds of Meat Products
(10/19/15) The USDA says Good Food Concepts in Colorado Spring is recalling 12,566 pounds of beef, pork and poultry because the products were made without a fully implemented Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plan.
According to the FDA, HACCP is a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product.
The USDA also says the meat products are misbranded and contain sodium nitrite, which was not declared on the product label.
The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 27316” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations in Colorado and New Mexico.
The problem was discovered by FSIS during a food safety assessment at the establishment.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
