ONLY ON 13: Friends of shooting victim, Alan Havens hold poker tournament in his honor
The man at the center of a deadly love triangle, is in custody. The FBI caught 59-year-old Maxwell Garihan in Denver Friday night.
Garihan is accused of shooting his estranged wife and killing another man Thursday night in Black Forest.
Deputies say 57 year-old Alan Havens was shot in the head. The second victim, Garihan’s estranged wife is expected to make a full recovery.
“Anyone that needed any help, Alan Havens would be there for them for anyone. That’s the kinda man he was and didn’t deserve what he got,” said Christine Larson.
Larson is one of several friends who gathered at “The Spirit Keeper,” in Black Forest Friday night. They held a tournament to honor his life.
“Alan loved poker and loved karaoke so we just got together tonight just to remember him,” said Elizabeth Brannan.
Havnes played poker every Tuesday and Friday night with many of his friends in Black Forest.
“You’re not going to meet anyone in Black Forest that Alan hasn’t touched their lives in one way or another,” said Sherri Koch.
Friends say they’ll continue to play poker in his honor.
