D70 board member says D60, D70 won’t be a combined school district right now

Pueblo County School District 70 said it’s fine with how the school districts are right now.

This comes after Pueblo City School District 60 President Kathy DeNiro told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that she would present an idea to the D60 school board of consolidating both school districts.

D70 Board Member Mark Emery said the idea is off the table for D70 to combine with D60.

“Our test scores, we have no schools on the clock. Our teachers and our staff are phenomenal. I’m really proud of what’s going on, and we aren’t really interested in exploring (a consolidation) at this time,” he said.

DeNiro said both districts would save money on transportation, assessments, as well as having a central office if they combine.
