Sexually violent predator moves to Colorado Springs

The Colorado Springs Police Department says a sexually violent predator has moved into a neighborhood east of downtown.

Rarlin Michael Barbin, 43, is registered as living in the 3000 block of East Platte Avenue, which is near Circle Drive.

Police say Barbin was convicted of attempted sexual assault on a child in 2001 in El Paso County. He has also been convicted of drug and assault charges, as well as failing to register as a sex offender.

Police are required by law to notify neighbors whenever a sexually violent predator moves to a new location.
