CSPD: Driver not cited after homeless man run over in alley

A Colorado Springs driver will not face a citation, after a homeless man was run over in an alley behind a business in the 1200 block of North Academy Boulevard around 10:55 p.m. Saturday.

Officers say that the man had been asleep in the middle of the alley for about an hour when the accident occurred. Employees at the business say that he refused to leave.

The man was transported to the hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle drove away from the scene, but was later found in a nearby neighborhood.

The driver told police that he did not know that he’d hit someone, and did not show any signs of impairment.

Investigators determined that the homeless man was the cause of the accident.
