Two transgender students want to make history at CSU-Pueblo

Two students at Colorado State University-Pueblo want to make a dream come true and be the first transgender homecoming queen.

Lise Swanson and Winter Naomi Vera are nominees to win the crown.

They said when they first announced that they were part of the election, people were supportive.

They also said just being in the race is a dream come true.

“It’s just such an incredible feeling, like, for the longest time I thought that none of this would have been possible,” Vera said.

The two will find out if they make homecoming court Friday night. The homecoming queen will be picked during halftime of the Thunderwolves homecoming game Saturday.
