D60 losing students, money

Pueblo school district 60 could lose more than $1 million because its student enrollment numbers are so low.

Colorado kept track of attendance numbers in D60 from Sept. 24th to Oct. 8th and the results were not goo.d

They showed that the district is down 163 students from its attendance goal.

As KRDO NewsChannel 13 reported last month, D60 could make cuts to jobs, textbooks and transportation to make up the difference in money that could be lost.

D60 says they will know how much money they will have in their budget by January, and they have until Jan. 31 to make changes to the budget.

For now, a spokesperson says they feel confident that there will not be any severe changes in classrooms or teacher positions.
