Fort Carson soldiers conduct fire support coordination training

Fort Carson soldiers conducted fire support coordination training Friday, as part of the 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, War Horse Strike training.

“It’s an opportunity to get all the soldiers together in one training event where we’re integrating all the brigades capabilities, air, engineers, field artillery, mortars,” LTC Neil Snyder said.

The event included training and assessments in planning indirect fires in conjunction with maneuver operations, the development and implementation of fire support coordination measures, air-ground integration and the employment of mortars.

The purpose of War Horse Strike is to leverage the full range of training capabilities at Fort Carson to ensure 2nd IBCT Soldiers and units are proficient on war fighting fundamentals in preparation for an upcoming rotation to the National Training Center, Fort Irwin, California, and any future operations.
