Home prices are up in the Springs

The newest numbers are in for Colorado’s real estate market.

The Department of Housing and Urban Development says home sales were down slightly in the second quarter.

That’s despite an uptick in new-home construction.

It attributes the slower home sales to fewer homes being available.

Prices are up, however.

“For this area they’re up 2.7 percent compared to a year ago for residential (units),” said Rachel Buller of Manitou Springs Real Estate.

In Colorado Springs, the median price for a home that was sold between May of 2014 and May of this year was nearly $232,000.
