Fire burns mobile home in north El Paso County

A mobile home owned by the Gleneagle Scout Lodge caught fire in north El Paso County Tuesday morning.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. on Kingswood Drive, off Baptist Road.

Firefighters from several agencies – Tri-Lakes, Wescott, Black Forest, Air Force Academy, Falcon, Palmer Lake and Colorado Springs – responded to the fire. Crews had it knocked down in about an hour.

Firefighters say the fire could have been much worse and spread had it happened later in the afternoon, but the morning’s humidity helped crews combat the fire.

An investigation into the cause is now underway.
