Preparing for the worst
emergency crews from all over pueblo county practiced a wildfire evacuation drill in beulah today. crews say the heavy rain in spring and summer has increased the danger of a wildfire.. krdo newschannel 13’s carl winder shows us how crews are making sure the mountain town is preparing for it. scanner traffic. emergency crews are urging people to evacuate their homes …but it’s only a wildfire drill… nat sound of knocking on the door sot: that is threatening a bunch of homes around 200 homes is what we are trying to evacuate. rescue crews want to make sure people in beulah know there will be help in a worst case scenario. sot: i’m thankful we are here for this, but im thankful it’s just a mock and practice to make sure they know where to go during a wildfire sot: they have really done a great job providing leadership and preparg for fire danger. pueblo county emergency crews say the record rains brought much need water to the county, but it came with a price. sot: the whole area around the mountain area is a threat just because of the dry area we had an unfortunatly wet summer and wet spring and everything grew up so that enhanced our danger. stand up: emergency crews not only take care of the people, but also the pets. sot: in any disaster we know that pets are family and we always ask people in their emegency plan to think about their pets and what they are going to do. even though people in beulah appreciate the drill, they hope they aren’t next ones to get a wildfire. like the devastating ones colorado has seen over the past several years.. carl winder krdo newschannel 13. crews went to nearly 200 homes to make sure the people inside were evacuated for the drill. new information
