Driver Hits Gas Line in Possible Hit and Run

Colorado Springs police are investigating a crash after a driver allegedly drove into a building and caused a gas fire.

It happened at an empty car dealership near Circle Drive and Dale Street. The intersection was closed for about three hours and has since reopened.

Police first responded to a traffic accident around 2 a.m. They found that a car had crashed into the building, struck a gas line and started a fire.

Firefighters put out the fire and clamped down the gas line. Colorado Springs Utilities were able to shut the building’s gas line off.

Officials don’t know of any injuries. They say the driver ran away from the scene and has not been caught.
