U.S. Postal Service hiring hundreds of seasonal workers
If you’re looking for a job this holiday season, the U.S. Postal Service is looking to hire hundreds of employees along the Front Range.
The Postal Service will fill 900 new positions, including 100 in Colorado Springs.
“We will be hiring temporary clerks, mail handlers and carriers to get those packages delivered,” said Linda Neill, USPS customer relations coordinator.
Post offices typically see an increase in business during November and December. The Postal Service wants to prepare early for the rush.
“Last year, we had record double-digit growth for parcels, and we expect the same this year,” Neill said. “It’s our busiest time.”
Approximately 400 positions will be temporary jobs during the holiday season. The rest of the jobs have the potential to lead to permanent employment at the USPS.
The hourly wages range from $10 to $16.65, with varying shifts and days off.
“We do offer permanent placement to employees that have been hired through the holiday season,” Neill said.
USPS customers said they are happy to see more jobs in the area.
“I think it’s great. I think it’s a good time of the year. People always need more money and it will really help the economy,” said shopper Steven Jessen.
