Victim identified, arrest made in murder of man found in burning car
Investigators say a man whose body was found inside a burning car in Jefferson County was shot.
The remains of the man, identified Wednesday as 44-year-old Jason Dosa of Parker, were found inside the car on Sunday. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says the car was found in flames down a steep embankment in Deer Creek Canyon west of Chatfield State Park.
A Gofundme site set up to help Dosa’s family says he was married with two children and describes him as a “light in this world” who was looked up to by many.
The sheriff’s office announced an arrest Wednesday night.
Shawn Geerdes was arrested at around 5:40 p.m. after being pulled over on Highway 85 north of Meadows Parkway in Douglas County.
Geerdes faces charges for first degree murder and second degree arson. He is scheduled to be in court Thursday morning.
