Arrest made in death of toddler found in Colorado apartment

Police have arrested a man suspected of killing a 2-year-old boy who was found unconscious in his apartment outside Denver.

Lakewood police spokesman Steve Davis said Tuesday that 21-year-old Roman Paul Morales, an acquaintance of the boy’s mother, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder after questioning.

The boy was found unconscious in the apartment where he lived with his mother shortly after being reported missing on Monday. He was later pronounced dead after being taken to the hospital.

Police say they were called after the boy had reportedly been missing for about 10 minutes.

They say Morales had been in the apartment before police arrived and officers were able to find him soon afterward.
