Thousands of names added to Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial

Thousands of fallen fire fighters who died long ago, now have a physical commemoration of their service

Their names were added to granite walls at the Fallen Fire Fighter memorial in Memorial Park. The names date back as far as 1918.

All 7,352 names were read aloud by the honor guard on Wednesday afternoon.

“Whether it was 1918, or this year, that’s what we’re doing … we’re going back and recognizing the people everyone thought we forgot,” said Mike Mullane.

Mullane’s brother’s name is on the wall. He was a firefighter who died in Boston last year.

The official Fallen Fire Fighter memorial ceremony is Saturday at Memorial Park at 11 a.m.
