La Junta man hurt in motorcycle crash

A La Junta man is recovering in the hospital after a motorcycle crash.

Colorado State Patrol reports the crash happened just after 7 p.m. Saturday on Highway 109 in Las Animas County.

Troopers say 53-year-old Mark Ryan was driving a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a turn, went off the side of the road and was thrown from the bike.

Troopers say Ryan was not wearing a helmet.

He was eventually flown to Parkview Medical Center to be treated for his injuries.

Troopers say alcohol is being investigated as the main factor in the crash.
