I-25 Construction blog

Two major Colorado Springs interchanges are being rebuilt. The new interchange at I-25 and Fillmore St. is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2016. The new interchange at I-25 and Cimarron St. is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2017.

CIMARRON UPDATES:

(9/14/15) Drivers will encounter temporary periodic nighttime varying singlelane closures along southbound I-25 (between Bijou Street Bridge and Colorado Avenue Bridge) Wednesday, Sept. 16 and northbound I-25 (between Bijou Street Bridge and Colorado Avenue Bridge) Thursday, Sept 17 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Construction crews will be conducting geotechnical survey work as part of the I-25 & Cimarron Interchange project. Use caution and adhere to posted speed limits.
(9/10/15) On Thursday, Sept. 10 and Friday, Sept. 11 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., drivers will encounter temporary periodic nighttime single-lane closures along southbound I-25 while crews build an access point for embankment work.
(8/20/15) The terminus of the Bear Creek Trail at 8 th Street and access under I-25 to the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail will be closed for about three months beginning on August 24. Detour signs will be posted.
Bear Creek Trail Detour:
Eastbound Bear Creek Trail users will turn north on 8th Street and cross Cimarron, immediately access the Midland Trail to South Chestnut Street north to West Cucharras Street, continue as it becomes South Walnut Street and connects to Colorado Avenue, under I-25. Users can re-enter the trail system at America the Beautiful Park by turning south on Cimino Drive.
Westbound Trail Users will follow the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail north along the east side of Fountain Creek to America the Beautiful Park and connect to Colorado Avenue, turn west on Colorado Avenue, turn south on South Walnut Street to West Cucharras, turn south on South Chestnut Street to access the Midland Trail. At 8 th Street, turn south and cross Cimarron. Continue on south on 8 th Street to connect with the Bear Creek Trail.

FILLMORE UPDATES:

(8/28/15) From Friday Aug. 28, 8 p.m. to Monday, Aug. 31, 5 a.m., the ramps from northbound I-25 to Fillmore Street and from Fillmore Street to northbound I-25 will be closed. In addition, Fillmore Street will be closed between Mark Dabling Boulevard and the southbound I-25 ramps. All eastbound Fillmore traffic west of I-25 will need exit to southbound I-25. Southbound I-25 traffic can exit at Fillmore but must go west on Fillmore.
Detour from northbound I-25:For points west of I-25, exit I-25 at Uintah, west on Uintah to Chestnut, north on Chestnut to Fillmore OR exit I-25 at Garden of the Gods Road, west on Garden of the Gods to Centennial Boulevard, south on Centennial to Fillmore.
Detour from westbound Fillmore, east of I-25:Drivers who want to access northbound I-25 should go north on Nevada Avenue to Garden of the Gods Road, west on Garden of the Gods to I-25ORcontinue north on Nevada to its junction with I-25 at Rockrimmon Boulevard. Drivers wanting to access southbound I-25 areSTRONGLY ENCOURAGED to travel south on Nevada Avenue and access southbound I-25 at Uintah Street, Bijou Street or at the Nevada/Tejon Interchange. CDOT is recommending that southbound travelers avoid the Garden of the Gods Interchange due to the high amount of traffic at that location.PLEASE NOTE:Mark Dabling Boulevard will be closed for a local event onSaturdayand cannot be used as a detour route. (8/20/15) The I-25 and Fillmore interchange will be partially closed over the next two weekends. The ramps from southbound I-25 to Fillmore Street and from Fillmore Street to southbound I-25 will be closed from from 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. In addition, Fillmore Street will be closed between Chestnut Street and the northbound I-25 ramps. All westbound Fillmore Street traffic will have to exit to northbound I-25. Northbound I-25 traffic can exit at Fillmore but will only be able to go east on Fillmore .
