Pueblo mom accused of trying to kill her seven week old son

Pueblo Police say a woman called police on herself after trying to kill her infant son.

Officers were called to a home in the 1100 block of E. 3rd St. at around 7:30 a.m. on September 8, 2015.

Dispatchers said Savannah Jacobs, 28, had called and reported that she tried to kill her son.

The boy was conscious and alert when officers arrived. He was taken to the hospital where doctors said they found evidence that he had been choked. His injuries are minor, police said.

Jacobs was taken to the police department for questioning before being arrested. She faces charges for attempted 2nd degree murder, child abuse and violation of a protection order.

The baby is now in the custody of the Department of Human Services.
