Man arrested for 9th DUI in Colorado Springs
Colorado Springs police say 23 people were pulled for suspicion of drunk driving, during the long Labor Day weekend
Officers say that’s three more reports of DUI compared to what they saw during last year’s holiday weekend.
One of the accused drunk drivers was arrested Monday night for his ninth DUI.
54-year-old William Nance is now facing a class four felony, up to six years in prison, and up to a $500,000 thousand fine.
“That’s really high. We would sometimes see an occasional fifth, sometimes sixth DUI, but for him to get close to ten is very unusual,” said Lt. Scott Schwall with Colorado Springs police.
If Nance had been caught just months ago, before the 4th strike DUI law was passed in Colorado, he would have served a quick sentence in jail.
Nance is currently in jail on a $3,000 bond.
Nance will face a judge for advisement on Wednesday.
