UPDATE: Woman killed crossing Colorado Springs street identified

Colorado Springs Police identified a woman who was hit by a vehicle and killed Sunday.

She is 75-year-old Larisa Kovshar. Marquiz Rucker, 19, was arrested for careless driving causing death, which is a misdemeanor, police said.

It happened just before 7:45 p.m. Sunday near the intersection of Boulder and El Paso streets. That’s just outside of downtown and near the Shooks Run Trail.

Police said a group was walking on the crosswalk at the intersection, going southbound on El Paso, when the man driving eastbound on Boulder Street struck the woman.

Neighbors said the group, two couples, have been walking in that area daily for years.
