Fair petition receives more signatures than expected
A petition to keep the Colorado State Fair in Pueblo has received more signatures than expected.
Pueblo County Commissioner Sal Pace started the online petition, which he plans to show state lawmakers. He said the Denver Post and some state lawmakers want to move the fair from Pueblo.
Pace said the petition surpassed more than 5,000 signatures. He also said he will use this support to fight anyone trying to change the state fair’s location.
“We understand that Sen. Neville will be running a bill this year to move the fair. We will be bringing all the petition names to the committee hearing to let the legislators know that Pueblo and the state of Colorado support keeping the fair in Pueblo, Colorado,” he said.
The fair has been in Pueblo since 1869.
