Shooting victim’s girlfriend demands justice in Pueblo

The girlfriend of a man who was shot and killed Wednesday demands justice.

Police say 20-year-old Isaiah Vialpando was shot near 2nd and Court streets and then crashed his vehicle near City Center Drive. He died at the hospital.

Officers say the two cars were also speeding next to each other.

Vialpando’s girlfriend Kallie Guerra said his life was taken too soon.

“I just miss him a lot. It’s not the same not being able to lay down and go to sleep with him and wake up next to him in the morning,” she said.

Guerra wonders why anyone would kill her boyfriend.

“He was a school boy. He wasn’t in any gangs. We didn’t affiliate with any drama. We kept to ourselves. We went to school. We came home. We wanted to better ourselves,” she said.

Vialpando was a graduate at Dolores Huerta Preparatory High in 2013. He was part of the school’s mariachi band. He was also majoring in mass media at CSU-Pueblo.

“He just loved music, and he loved his family,” Guerra said.

Now, she is looking for answers.

“This was a senseless crime. He did not deserve it. He should still be here standing next to me like he’ll always be, even now in heaven,” Guerra said.

Police said the shooter was driving a newer model, red, two-door car with a sun roof, dark-tinted windows and low-profile tires on spoked aftermarket rims.

Those with information are asked to call Pueblo Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP.

A candlelight vigil for Vialpando will be happening at Ersilia Cruz Park near Delores Huerta Preparatory High at 7 p.m. Friday.
