La Junta man dies after rollover crash
A La Junta man died after he and his passengers were ejected during a crash.
It happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday in Otero County.
The Colorado State Patrol reports the driver, Angel Quintero, 40, of La Junta, was driving a 2000 Ford F-150 when he lost control on a curve.
The truck went off the right side of the road, and the driver over-corrected, causing the truck to spin and roll three times. Quintero, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected along with both of his passengers.
Quintero was pronounced dead at the scene.
The two passengers, Brittanee Rhoades, 23, of Green Mountain Falls, and Matthew Martinez, 31, of La Junta, were sitting in the bed of the truck when they were thrown from the vehicle.
Rhoades was flown to Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
Martinez went to the Arkansas Valley Hospital.
Troopers say speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. They’re still investigating.
