Hundreds honor the life of a Pueblo musician

Hundreds of people are the honoring the life of a musician who was shot and killed in Pueblo.

Isaiah Vialpando was shot near Second and Court streets Wednesday. Police said his vehicle was speeding next to another vehicle.

He crashed his car near City Center Drive. He was rushed to the hospital where he died.

People remembered Vialpando at a park near Delores Huerta Preparatory High with a candlelight vigil.

People at the vigil said he was a great musician.

“He was very well talented. Maybe he got the music genes from his grandpa because he really loved music,” Vialpando’s grandfather Daniel Vialpando said.

But people said more importantly, Isaiah Vialpando was a great man.

“He’s been nothing but a great son to Melissa and I and his grandfather,” Vialpando’s father Robert Cordova said.

Vialpando’s grandfather said his life ended too early.

“He was no threat to nobody. He was the greatest individual that you could ever see. He was talented, smart and outgoing,” he said.

The remembrance went beyond the vigil at the park. People placed a memorial where Vialpando crashed after he was shot.

Pueblo police said the community has been helpful in trying to solve the crime. Officers said investigators were looking into 10 Crime Stoppers tips on Friday.

Even though people had heavy hearts at the vigil, they said the impact Vialpando made in their lives will never be forgotten.

Police haven’t named any suspects yet and they need your help finding the shooter. Officers said the shooter was driving a newer model, red, two-door car with a sun roof, dark-tinted windows and low-profile tires on spoked aftermarket rims.
