Fifty cats rescued from southern Colorado breeder
Nearly half of the fifty cats that were rescued from a breeder in Rocky Ford on Thursday were taken a shelter in Colorado Springs, according to the Denver Dumb Friends League.
The Dumb Friends League says the cats are purebred Siamese and Balinese. It says 27 of the cats were taken to Denver and the remaining 23 were taken to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
The Dumb Friends League says the cats were handed over by the breeder after failing an inspection required by the Department of Agriculture’s Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act.
All of the cats are receiving medical and behavior examinations. The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region says some of the cats it received may have ringworm.
The cats will likely be put up for adoption once they are deemed healthy enough to do so, but there is no estimate on when that might happen in Colorado Springs.
Some of the cats that were taken to Denver may be available for adoption in just a couple of days, according to the Dumb Friends League.
