Full-scale crisis training at Fort Carson

A full-scale emergency exercise put soldiers to the test at Fort Carson on Tuesday.

During the training, emergency teams had to respond to an active shooter who had taken someone hostage.

Soldiers say the exercise is as close as it gets to a real active shooter situation.

The crisis training took more than a year of planning.

It involved a shooter inside of a building at Fort Carson, several wounded victims, and at least one hostage.

Evaluators from across the country closely watched the exercise unfold.

Later in the week, the experts will explain how Fort Carson emergency teams performed with tips on how they can improve.
