State wants to bring businesses to Pueblo County by offering tax credits

The Colorado government is helping Pueblo County attract more businesses to the county by offering tax credits by expanding the enterprise zone.

The original zone in the county was 233 square miles. The new boundaries cover almost the whole county.

Businesses can qualify for tax credits by creating new jobs, investing in business properties or other economic developments.

Pueblo County Director of Economic Development Chris Markuson said this expansion will give the county a leg up in bringing more businesses to the county.

“This is a critical thing for southern Colorado and for Pueblo. It gives our businesses a competitive advantage,” he said.

The new boundaries go into effect Jan. 1.

13 other regions in Colorado also received enterprise zone expansions.
