Springs woman faces embezzlement charges

Colorado Springs Police say a woman who used to work as a Practice Administrator at a doctor’s office is facing charges for embezzlement.

Police say the Financial Crimes Unit investigated Michelle Reynolds for seven months before obtaining an arrest warrant. They say the doctor who Reynolds worked for lost his practice.

Detectives say Reynolds was fired from the practice in November 2014 after working there for ten years. Police say she was fired after accounting irregularities were found.

Police say Reynolds is accused of embezzling funds from payroll and company accounts to enhance her lifestyle to the tune of $56,000.

Reynolds faces charges for theft, tax evasion and filing a false tax return. If convicted Reynolds could face a maximum prison sentence of six years.

Police say Reynolds surrendered at the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center last night and has since been released on $10,000.00 bond.
