Police: Juvenile assaults security guard at Colorado Springs middle school

Colorado Springs Police say there was an incident in the principal’s office of a southeast side middle school Thursday afternoon. It happened at Carmel Middle School in the 1700 block of Pepperwood Dr.

Police say the juvenile was upset when the incident happened. They say he punched the guard and made threats involving a weapon but police could not confirm whether he had one.

Investigators we’re not able to confirm why the boy was upset but said he has mental health issues.

The incident happened after school hours and the facility was not locked down.

Police say they believe the guard was with a private security firm that the district hired to monitor school grounds after hours.
