Update: Investigators say kidnapper ordered teen to drive him to Pueblo

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says a kidnapper who forced a teenager to drive him from Conifer to Pueblo has been arrested.

Conifer is located off of highway 285 southwest of Denver.

The Crime happened on August 20, 2015 at 3:45 p.m.

The sheriff’s office says the kidnapper, who it identified as Dakota Holand, 20, was arrested in Aurora at around 8 a.m. on August 26, 2015. It says Holand was in a stolen car when he was arrested and faces auto theft charges in Aurora.

Jefferson County investigators say that in the August 20 incident, the victim, a 16-year-old boy, had just got into his Jeep at the King Soopers in Conifer when Holand got into the back seat. They say Holand told the teen that he had a gun and ordered him to “shut up and drive.”

Deputies say Holand told the teen to drive him to Pueblo because he was out of money and lost his ride, which he did.

The pair stopped for gas at a Shell Gas Station in Colorado Springs and then continued to Pueblo.

Deputies say the victim was ordered to stop at an ATM, withdraw money from the victim’s account and give it to Holand. They say he then directed the victim to stop at a home and wait outside. Again, the victim complied.

The sheriff’s office says Holand knocked on the door, but no one answered. He then got back into the Jeep and ordered the teen to continue driving.

Investigators say Holand told the teen to pull over a couple of blocks later. He then got out of the jeep and ran off. They say the teen then called 911 and reported the crime to Pueblo Police.

No charges had been filed in the Conifer kidnapping case as of 4 p.m. Wednesday (8/26/15).
